Job Description

Michael Page are working with a national private healthcare provider who are looking for ITU RGNs to pick up ad hoc agency work at their specialist surgical hospital in Leeds. The hospital is rated "Outstanding" with the CQC and is a specialist in complex surgery including Cardiac, Spinal and Weight Loss. They also provide care such as Breast Clinic, Gynaecology, Neurology, Sleep Clinic and Orthopaedics. This surgical hospital is based in Leeds city centre and they currently require Registered Nurses (RGN) who are experienced in Intensive Care to support their shifts on an ad hoc and agency basis.
As ITU Staff Nurse (RGN) on this private Intensive Care Unit you will be working with patients who have had complex surgery alongside a team of experts including Consultants and Surgeons who strive to provide outstanding patient outcomes. This hospital in Leeds is part of one of the most well recognised private hospital groups in the UK which delivers outstanding levels of care to paying patients. The hospital itself is based just outside of Leeds and is easily accessible via car or public transport.

Job Description
As Intensive Care Nurse (RGN) in this private surgical hospital, Leeds you will be responsible for:

  • Working independently, running own diary & managing a caseload
  • Recording patient's blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels
  • Clearing mucus and fluid from chest using suction tube
  • Administering prescribed drugs and fluids per Doctor's guidance
  • Assessing and supporting the operational team to implement the care, writing person centred care plans & risk assessments
  • Understanding the role of a key worker to nominated patients and acting accordingly
  • Attending and participating in staff meetings
  • Responding compassionately to the emotional demands of supporting patients with medical concerns
  • Communicating regularly with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team, acting as the client's advocate
  • Auditing, reviewing and maintaining clinical documentation
  • Monitoring and ensuring the delivery of care is clinically suitable & evidence based
  • Teaching, assessing & delegating skills for Healthcare Assistant and Support Workers
The Successful Applicant
The successful Intensive Care Nurse (RGN) will have the following:
  • Active & Valid NMC Pin
  • Clear Enhanced DBS (Children's & Adults)
  • Legal right to live and work in the UK
  • Experience working in a similar setting (hospital)
As ITU Nurse (RGN) you will be:
  • Compassionate, empathetic and understanding of patient's needs and concerns
  • Confident and competent leading a healthcare team including HCAs and students
  • Up to date with theoretical and clinical advances within the healthcare and nursing industry
