BI Developer

Job Description

Business Intelligence Developer

\n

Wakefield | Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days from home)

\n

c£45,000 + Benefits

\n

We're working with a growing UK organisation looking to appoint a Business Intelligence Developer into their expanding data team.

\n

This is an opportunity to join at an exciting point in the company's data journey, working alongside the BI Manager to build and develop a central SQL Server data warehouse and modern reporting platform.

\n

If you enjoy building data solutions rather than simply consuming them, this role offers the chance to work across the full BI development lifecycle - from integrating and transforming data through to delivering robust Power BI reporting that drives business decisions.

\n

The Role

\n

As BI Developer, you'll work across multiple business systems to design, develop and maintain scalable BI solutions.

\n

You'll be responsible for:

\n
    \n
  • Developing and maintaining a SQL Server data warehouse
  • \n
  • Writing and optimising complex T-SQL queries, views and stored procedures
  • \n
  • Building ETL processes to extract, transform and load data from multiple source systems
  • \n
  • Designing semantic models and developing Power BI dashboards and reports
  • \n
  • Creating DAX measures and calculations to deliver meaningful business insight
  • \n
  • Working directly with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements
  • \n
  • Supporting users with Power BI adoption and best practice
  • \n
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the organisation's BI strategy and data platform
  • \n
\n

About You

\n

We're looking for someone who already has commercial experience working in a BI Developer, SQL Developer or Data Engineering environment.

\n

You'll ideally have:

\n
    \n
  • Strong commercial experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) including querying, transformations and database development
  • \n
  • Experience building or maintaining ETL processes (SSIS experience beneficial but not essential)
  • \n
  • Strong Power BI skills, including data modelling, Power Query and DAX
  • \n
  • Experience developing data solutions across the full BI lifecycle - not just creating reports
  • \n
  • The ability to work independently whilst collaborating closely with stakeholders across the business
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for solving business problems through data
  • \n
\n

Why Apply?

\n

This isn't a role where you'll spend your time producing reports from an existing data model.

\n

You'll be joining a genuinely greenfield environment, helping shape the organisation's data platform from the ground up. Working alongside an experienced BI Manager, you'll gain exposure across SQL development, data warehousing, ETL, Power BI, stakeholder engagement and the wider BI strategy.

\n

It's an excellent opportunity for someone already working as a BI Developer, SQL Developer or Junior Data Engineer who wants broader ownership, greater variety and the chance to make a visible impact across the business. Please note that this role does not offer sponsorship, therefore interested candidates must hold full Right to Work in the UK, with no restrictions.
